Modifying the sales tax exemption for construction materials by allowing certain educational institutions a sales tax exemption for purchases thereof.

Adam Siebers, Assistant Revisor provided an overview on HB2104 that would amend the sales tax exemption for educational institution building materials. The bill allows qualifying educations institutions the sales tax exemption for building materials in the event that the housing would not be inhabited by students of the educational institution. (Attachment 2)
Proponents:
Patrick Jonas,CEO Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation of Kansas testified as a proponent for HB2104 that would allow non-profit institutions who provide housing to persons with disabilities the ability to utilize project exemption certificates to provide funding for building and renovation of housing and requested it be effective when placed in the Kansas Register. (Attachment 3)
Mr. Jonas stood for questions from Committee members.
