Chairperson Warren opened the hearing on SB385.

Jason Thompson, Senior Assistant Revisor, provided an overview of SB385 and responded to questions from Committee members. (Attachment 3)

Emily Lang testified in support of SB385 relating personal experience as a victim, the impact on her life, and the need for statutory definition language to be updated so perpetrators of these kinds of crimes are registered as a sex offender. (Attachment 4)

Annabelle Davis testified in support of SB385 relating personal experience as a victim and the impact of it on her life. Ms. Davis stated the perpetrator was on probation for the same crime at the time she was victimized and requests the legislature update the laws and punishment for certain breach of privacy cases. (Attachment 5)

Beth Heirigs testified in support of SB385 relating personal experience as a witness and advocate for a friend to whom this same type of crime had happened. (Attachment 6)

Scott Schultz, Executive Director, Kansas Sentencing Commission, submitted a SB385 Prison Bed Impact Assessment. (Attachment 7)
